Eyewitness identifies three ANP Extortionists in double murder case

An eyewitness in the double murder case of two brothers recorded his statement before Judicial Magistrate East Malik Akhter on Friday and identified a suspect allegedly involved in the crime. The suspect, identified as Saleem Mehsud, allegedly came into a shop and opened fire on a man named Umair for refusing to pay extortion. However, the bullets hit the two brothers, Munawar and Mansoor instead.

The Eyewitness of the double murder had earlier recorded his statement before the Magistrate that on August 7th and claimed he was standing outside a shop near Abul Hasan Isphani road and was talking to the victims when three motorcyclists Salim Mehsud, Yar Khan and Azmati came to the shop and opened fire.

“We both immediately ran into the shop as soon as the firing stopped and saw that Mansoor and Munawar, the two brothers, had suffered bullet injuries. We rushed them to a nearby hospital, but the doctors declared that both of them died on the way. I took the dead bodies to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and put them into cold storage as the younger brother of the deceased was out of town.

He said that one of the accused, Saleem Mehsud, was present in the courtroom, whereas his accomplices were still absconding. However, the witness did say that he could recognise them if they were produced in court.

He also mentioned that all the three suspects belonged to the Awami National Party (ANP) and were known to locals for collecting extortion money from people. Any one who refuses to pay, he said, becomes a victim of their brutality. The judge, after recording the statement issued, “I personally testified the eyewitness and examination has been taken under my hand”, he concluded.
