Blog: Operation in Karachi, is it needed?

Since the recent undesired circumstances in Karachi, politicians from all parts of Pakistan are making a hullabaloo and are vigorously demanding at the top of their voices that an operation be carried out in Karachi. Most of these politicians belong to PML-N and ANP, but there are also patronizers of Lyari gang war terrorists. They are demanding that Karachi be sanitized from illegal weaponry. These statements are usually given to point towards MQM (that MQM is encouraging its supporters and workers to use weaponry) and that MQM is responsible for every incident of targeted killing in Karachi.
First come to PML-N. The Party base is in Lahore and its citadel is Punjab. It can be seen from the last Nationwide election results that its members were only elected from Punjab and only two members from KPK.PML-N has almost no activities in Karachi and when its leaders ,sitting in Punjab, criticize on the situation in Karachi, they obviously do not know anything personally that what the situation in Karachi is. All they come to know is from Media activities and a small base in Karachi. With a situation like this their leaders do not qualify to give statements regarding Karachi when they have done nothing beneficial for the people of Karachi ever and it does seem that they do not even plan to do something for Karachi. On the other hand if you look at PML-N's political pattern lately you would definitely see that whatever catastrophe struck the Nawaz League had to put the blame on MQM for Karachi and PPP for the whole country. Now this is dirty politics. When you have never done anything for the Karachiites, you do not qualify, to blame on every minor matter, their elected representatives. So putting forward a demand for operation in Karachi is totally out of question. If PML-N has not done anything good for Karachi, it should at least not try to push Karachi again in the dark.
Coming to ANP, this party has nothing to do with the politics of Karachi. After its reincarnation in Karachi in 2007 it has given nothing to Karachi but perpetual disturbance and violent days and nights. Before its re-emergence, Pathans and Muhajirs in Karachi were living in peace and there were no ethnic tensions since 1986. Instead many Pathans had joned MQM, but after ANP reemerged in 2007,situation in Karachi has been grave. Crime rate went up sourly, targeted killings increased, cases registered for protection money also went up and most importantly the activities of Arms and land mafia escalated sharply.
ANP's provincial president Mr Shahi Syed is such a biased person that even his hate speeches can be watched on YOUTUBE that what opinion does he have regarding Muhajirs. A Karachiite cannot believe that such hate speeches are resonating Karachi. There is no doubt then, that ethnic tensions will be created. Anyone can go research on crime rate in Karachi pre and post 2007, you will surely come up with the similar data.So an operation in Karachi should be launched against MQM would be a preposterous demand. Why every time ANP and Amn Committee create fuss whenever someone talks about controlling the activities of land and arms mafia in Karachi? Some questions must be answered straightly by our political leaders who claim to have a stake in Karachi.
As far as Lyari Amn Committee (Former People’s Amn Committee) is concerned, everyone knows who these people are. A group of thugs, gang leaders and extortionists. People of Karachi still have not forgot the last Ashra of 2011 Ramadan Mubarak. Everyone in the media, Law enforcement agencies and the Karachi public knows who gave Karachi bagged corpses with threatening chits to target a particular community. Zulfiqar Mirza openly admitted that he was friends with Rehman Baloch (The Dacoit) and that he patronizes Amn Committee thugs. Uzair Jaan Baloch has been named in several F.I.Rs, yet Zulfiqar Mirza fights his case in the courts of media. Yet after his outburst against MQM, Zulfiqar Mirza was supported and tweeted for positively all over the Pakistan. This shows how hypocritical we (Pakistanis) have become. We would favor a thug as long as he is bashing the person/organization we have ideological differences. No wonder we are facing difficulties today because we do not have any moral standards.
Karachi does not need an operation; Karachi needs the cleansing of the hearts, Karachi needs the cleansing of itslef from the politicians such as Mirza and Shahi Syed who spread communal hatred, Karachi needs re-establishment of Morals in the society, and most of all Karachi needs the rights of its citizens to be delivered to them!
