LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz says his father Nawaz Sharif went to Saudi Arabia owing to King Abdullah’s efforts.
“King Abdullah negotiated my father’s exile with the former president Gen (Retd) Pervez Musharraf”, said she addressing Young Lawyers Forum’s inaugural.
She said King Abdullah came to rescue my father when he was in trouble.
“The custodian of the two holy mosques himself approached Musharraf to get my father out of Pakistan”, Maryam said.
Musharraf was trying to engineer a death sentence for my father by framing him for crimes he had never committed.
“When Sindh High Court sentenced my father for life twice I was there in the court the courtroom. I rose and pleaded with the judge in the chair to have fear of God as an innocent was being convicted”, said PML-N leader.
In the end she said that had Nawaz Sharif wanted to turn the "long march" to his favour he would have landed the premiership easily.
