Recently released Indian spy Surjeet Singh has claimed that Sarabjit Singh was converted to Islam and his Islamic name has been Sarfaraz.
Surjeet Singh who was released on Thursday from the Kot Lakhpat jail talking to Indian media in Amritsar claimed that another Indian prisoner Kirpal Singh was also converted to Islam and named Din Muhammad. Both of them became Muslim to gain release from jail but the authorities didn't release them, Surjeet said.
Dalbeer Kore, a sister of Sarabjeet Singh, however refuted Surjeet Singh's claim and said her brother was still Sikh and reads Sikh religious books in jail. She however said that when she visited Sarabjeet in Lahore jail, she saw people calling Kirpal Singh with the name of Din Muhammad.
Sarabjit Singh is currently imprisoned in Kot Lakhpat Jail and was convicted of his role in the 1990 bombings in Lahore and Multan.
