IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nasir Durrani has defied PTI’s claims related 100 percent delivery in police system.

PTI’s chief, Imran Khan claimed that corruption has been abolished from police system and FIR process has been fixed in K-P, whilst IG has ruled out such claims.

IG K-P has given his assessment related K-P and repudiated ‘every thing is okay’ mantra.

K-P LG polls: PTI popularity decreased in couple of years

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has lost popularity in masses, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In fresh local bodies polls, it has been learnt that PTI’s popularity has gone down in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. PTI gained 45 percent seats in last general elections – 2013, whilst the party could manage to pocket 35 percent seats in latest local bodies polls.

Despite administrative powers, PTI couldn’t clinch votes more than general polls.

Pakistan based anchorperson, Shahzeb Khanzada has revealed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ministers and lawmakers predicted, “PTI can never bag such mandate in K-P like it got in 2013’s general polls”.

Shahzeb Khanzada added that PTI ministers admitted that we didn’t do anything for public, we need more time.

Kashif Abbasi, the host, said that PTI electable indicated, “If elections hold today, we will not be able to visit constituencies to urge people to vote us (PTI)”.

PTI-JI coalition govt takes U-turn on biometric system in LG polls

ISLAMABAD: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government appears to have realised that the biometric system in local government elections could delay the exercise at the lowest tier for an indefinite time therefore it settled on introducing the system at a small tehsil of district Haripur.

But that too, a meeting was told, would require 20 weeks for procurement and transportation of machines.
Briefing reporters after a meeting held with Acting Chief Election Commissioner Justice Nasirul Mulk in the chair to discuss matters related to the LG polls in the KP, Additional Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Syed Sher Afghan said around 500 to 1000 biometric machines were estimated to be required for Ghazi.

He said the ECP was ready to announce the schedule for LG elections in the KP within 10 days to hold polls before June 30, if the idea of even procuring machines for Ghazi was dropped. He said a few more months would be required, if it was to be done.

He said the KP government had been asked to submit a written reply within next two days to explain if they wanted the pilot project at the cost of delay of a few months, or otherwise. He said anomalies in the LG law, rules and delimitation have been removed.

Sources in the ECP say the Commission will issue the schedule for LG polls in the next week if the KP government agrees to withdraw from the demand of pilot project in Ghazi, as well.

Analysts however believe that the delimitation issue could still delay the electoral exercise.

The Supreme Court had recently held that it was the mandate of the ECP to hold free and fair polls, and delimitation was part of it. The court had asked the ECP to carry out delimitation in Punjab and Sindh for LG polls.

The ECP had already approached the apex court seeking more time for delimitation in the two provinces, but is going with the plan to hold LG polls on the basis of delimitation not conducted by it. The analysts are of the view that a similar decision in the case of KP was also possible, if somebody challenges the delimitation in the Supreme Court.

PTI MPAs threaten Wapda

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) MPAs Mehmood Jan and Haji Fazl Ilahi on Monday warned that power consumers would besiege Wapda House if electric supply was suspended to their constituencies in Peshawar.

The warning comes in response to State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali’s recent threat to close down 11 feeders in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over huge line losses.

Mehmood Jan told a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club that of the 11 feeders pointed out by the state minister, three were located in his constituency (PK-7, Chagharmatti, Peshawar), whose residents won’t tolerate suspension of electric supply to their area.

Flanked by local PTI leaders, the MPA asked the federal government to provide Warsak dam royalty to local residents, saying the dam had been constructed on their land but Wapda had yet to make due payments to them.

He said if the state minister continued using highly provocative language against them, Pakhtuns would be left with no choice but to ‘welcome him here in a different way.’

“Almost half of the families in my constituency are not paying electricity bills because they have not been paid Warsak dam royalty yet,” he said. The MPA said Wapda should pay royalty to the local residents without delay because the dam had been constructed on their land.

He said the people in his constituency faced several issues, so they were reluctant to pay power bills.

Mr Jan said negotiations was underway to persuade the people to pay bills but at the same time, it was the government’s responsibility to pay attention to the people’s demands.

The MPA said the federal government should accept the rights of the poor people in his constituency and install electricity meters instead of threatening them with suspension of electricity.

He said more than 5,000 families would be affected only in his constituency if electric supply was suspended.

“We will block power transmission lines to Punjab if electric supply to any of the feeders is suspended,” he said.

Mr Jan said after the 18th constitutional amendment, the subject of electricity should have been transferred to the province. He said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa produced 6,000 megawatts electricity but its power demand was 2,000 megawatts only.

“Everyone knows Punjab leads provinces over power theft,” he said.

The MPA said the provincial government was carrying out several projects to produce 1,000 megawatts more electricity in the province during the next two years.

Later, MPA Haji Fazl Ilahi told Dawn that he would join the protest against Wapda if electric supply to his constituency (PK-6, Peshawar) was suspended over huge line losses.He said he would even take part in the proposed besieging of Wapda House on the matter.

“I have solid evidence that Wapda officials take bribe from people and avoid installation of power meters, and instead guide the people on how to steal electricity,” he said.

The PTI MPA said most of the people in his constituency paid power bills regularly but even then, Pesco had been suspending electric supply to them for long hours.

Rs150m extortion notice to Peshawar’s industrialist

PESHAWAR: The last two days have been difficult for an industrialist in Hayatabad. He received a letter written in Pashto from unidentified extortionists asking to pay Rs150 million as soon as possible.

While talking, a police official confirmed that an industrialist from Hayatabad had received an extortion letter from an obscure gang. The official said they had the letter but no FIR had been registered as yet and they were working on it.

The general manager of an industrial unit of the industrial estate also received a similar letter written in Pashto with a demand to pay Rs2 million.

The police official claimed both men had been threatened of dire consequences if they refused to pay the amount.

The third case was registered at Bhanamari police station against a man identified as Rasheed, resident of Mohmand Agency, who called Muhammad Nadeem and asked him to pay Rs2 million. Rasheed threatened Nadeem, a resident of Dora Road, of dire consequences if he did not pay.

Muhammad Jan also registered a similar complaint with the Khan Raziq police. According to the FIR, Jan runs a business on Cinema Road and unidentified people called him demanding Rs2.5 million as extortion. The police have started investigating the case.

Like militancy and kidnapping for ransom cases, Peshawar holds the top slot for highest number of reported extortion cases in the province in 2013.

Pakistan is not only an over populated but also an over politicized country, where as many as 236 political parties are registered.

But except some notables ones most of these political parties are unknown to be the public, same was the case with PTI, which was created good 15 years ago.

In his early days of politics Imran Khan tried his heart out to cash his Cricket successes in the political arena but failed miserably, in his desperation for power he also supported Musharraf’s referendum, but when Musharraf overturned Imran’s wish to become Prime Minister of Pakistan, disheartened Imran left to live with his in-laws in London.

Only to come back with a new agenda of reviving the politically dead PTI and out of the blue the PTI started to stage massive public gatherings and spent about Rs645 million on advertising and marketing to get on the chart of ‘TOP POLITICAL PARTIES OF PAKISTAN.’

If I say that whatever mandate PTI got in the general elections last year was solely because of Imran Khan’s firm and clear stand against the corruption, it wouldn’t be wrong. The educated and privileged youth of the country went to support Imran only because of the promises he made, during his election campaign. The words he used to attract the youth of Pakistan were ‘Tsunami’ and ‘Naya Pakistan’.

Referring to my old blog (Self Destructive Tsunami), which I had written just after a week of general elections 2013. Attitude and the behavior of PTI workers after their worst defeat in GE13 were unbelievable, they were bashing, abusing, blaming and implicate the opponents for rigging. PTI seemed to be competing with itself for setting new lows of indecency and immorality in politics.

PTI, allies formed their government in KPK with the promises of Khan to end corruption in 19 days and terrorism in 90 days and local body election in 90 days as well, contrary to this, a number of corruption cases have surfaced in the dominion of the same party, even their own party workers were involved in the corruption.

After that PTI worker from the United States, Mehboob Aslam claimed that he had raised funds for the party worth of 3 million USD from 2008 to 2013, whilst he had not been informed about this sum despite of asking. The list of corruptions continues but the 3 million USD corruption scandal jolted the roots of PTI and placed a big question mark of Imran Khan’s character, which were collected in the name of membership fund from the overseas Pakistanis, and no one knows what Imran did with the money.

By the passage of time Imran Khan has created many issues to distract the concentration from the real issues. He used to yell like a mad man at Shahbaz Sharif during his election campaigns, but soon after he regained his lost love for Sharif brothers and started to bash Altaf Hussain. Imran developed this habit during his cricket days when he used to sledge his opponents to divert their attention but as years past there are still no signs of maturity in Imran Khan.

On the other hand, Media persons and some well-known TV anchors faced an ugly barrage of abuse on social media sites by ‘PTI trolls’. This large section of the Imran Khan fan club showers anybody with a wide range of Urdu, Punjabi and English abuses if it believes that person has criticized Khan or his party.

In the 4th quarter of 2013, Imran Khan urged the Pakistan government to declare a ceasefire if it was serious about holding peace talks with militants and allow them to open an office in Pakistan. After this statement of Khan the conflict was emerged in the party and Asad Umar, a law maker of PTI said that party chief Imran Khan’s statement on Pakistani Taliban was not an official PTI policy statement.

PTI gained immense popularity during the build up to the 2013 elections and immersed as one of the most popular political parties of the nation. Although their performance could be termed as excellent for a new party, they have been losing popularity since then and matters have been worsened by intra-party conflicts and the desertion of members.
Many PTI workers, supporters and even the leaders have left the party due to corruption, nepotism and tug of war between the ideological and not so ideological groups within PTI. A forward bloc has also emerged in KP assembly under which fourteen members of the PTI in the KP assembly have raised a banner of revolt against pro-Taliban policies of their own government in the province and formed a separate faction.

This is really an alarming situation for the PTI leadership and if the reservations of the forward bloc had not been addressed this could prove fatal for the future to PTI, with whom the youth of KP has associated their hopes on the May 11 last year.

Anti-Taliban militia expresses disappointment at government

پاکستان کے صوبے خیبر پختونخوا کے دارالحکومت پشاور میں طالبان مخالف امن لشکروں کے رہنما حکومت کی طرف سے اپنے اختیارات کم کیے جانے پر نہ صرف پہلے کے مقابلے میں خود کو زیادہ غیر محفوظ تصور کرتے ہیں بلکہ حکومت کا ساتھ دینے کو وہ زندگی کی سب سے بڑی غلطی بھی قرار دے رہے ہیں۔

پشاور کے مضافاتی علاقے ماشوخیل بڈھ بیر میں طالبان مخالف امن کمیٹی کے سربراہ اسرار خان کا کہنا ہے کہ حکومت کی جانب سے امن کمیٹوں کے اختیارات کم کرنے سے ان کی زندگیوں کو لاحق خطرہ مزید بڑھ گیا ہے۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ پہلے انھیں حکومت کی طرف سے کئی محافظ دیے گئے تھے اور انھیں دیگر مراعات بھی حاصل تھی لیکن اب ان سے یہ تمام اختیارات واپس لے لیےگئے ہیں۔

ان کے بقول ’ہمارا مقابلہ انتہائی تربیت یافتہ افراد سے ہیں جن کے خلاف لڑنا ویسے بھی اتنا آسان نہیں اور ایسے میں لڑنا تو دور کی بات ہے، ایک یا دو پولیس اہلکاروں کی مدد سے ہم اپنا دفاع بھی نہیں کر سکتے۔‘

انہوں نے کہا کہ امن لشکر کے رضاکار حکومت اور عوام کی خاطر زندگیاں قربان کر رہے ہیں لیکن بدلے میں ان کے پاس جو کچھ تھا وہ بھی ان سے چھین لیا گیا ہے۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ بھائی کے اغواء اور کچھ دیگر مجبوریوں نے انہیں طالبان کے خلاف لشکر تشکیل دینے اور حکومت کا ساتھ دینے پر مجبور کیا لیکن اب وہ اپنے فیصلے پر پشیمان ہیں۔

’ہمیں شدت پسندوں کے خلاف لشکر بنانے اور حکومت کا ساتھ دینے کی کیا ضرورت تھی، اب ہم ایک ایسے بند گلی میں کھڑے ہیں جہاں ہمیں ہر طرف موت ہی موت نظر آتی ہے۔‘

ان کے بقول ’شدت پسندوں کے خلاف لڑائی میں اپنے بھائی اور ایک رشتہ دار کو کھو چکا ہوں، اپنے گاؤں سے خاندان سمیت بےگھر ہوا اور یہاں تک کہ اپنی جائیداد تک فروخت کر دی۔‘

تاہم اسرار خان کے مطابق حالات اب ایسے حد تک پہنچ گئے ہیں کہ اب وہ طالبان سے راضی نامہ کرسکتے ہیں اور نہ اور طرح سے اس جنگ سے جان چھڑاسکتے ہیں۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ پشاور کے مضافاتی علاقوں میں حکومتی حامی لشکروں اور امن کمیٹیوں کے سو کے قریب رضاکار شدت پسندوں کے حملے میں مارے جا چکے ہیں لیکن افسوس ان قربانیوں کی قدر نہیں کی گئی۔

خیال رہے کہ پاکستان میں 2008 میں حکومت نے دہشت گردی کے خلاف جاری جنگ میں شدت پسندوں کو عام افراد سے لاتعلق کرنے کے لیے قبائلی لشکر بنانے کی حکمت عملی کا آغاز کیا۔

اس حکمت عملی کے تحت قبائلی علاقے کے سرحد پر واقع پشاور کے مضافاتی علاقوں میں بھی کئی طالبان مخالف لشکر تشکیل دیے گئے۔ ابتدا میں ان لشکروں یا امن کمیٹیوں کو شدت پسندوں کے مکانات پر چھاپے مارنے ، ان کو حراست میں لینے اور ان کے مکان مسمار کرنے کا اختیار دیا گیا جبکہ ان کو پولیس اور خاصہ دار فورس کے اہلکار بھی دیے گئے۔

تاہم لشکروں میں شامل اکثریت جرائم پیشہ افراد سامنے آئے جنھوں نے اختیارات کا ناجائز استعمال کرتے ہوئے کئی علاقوں میں اس پلیٹ فارم کو ذاتی مفادات کےلیے استعمال کیا بلکہ یہاں تک کہ شدت پسندوں کے نام پر بےگناہ افراد کو قتل کیا۔

تاہم گزشتہ سال حکومت نے ان لشکروں کے اختیارات کو محدود کردیا اور یہ رضاکار اب اپنے طورپر کسی کے خلاف کوئی کاروائی نہیں کرسکتے بلکہ ان کا کام پولیس یا سکیورٹی فورسز کی مدد کرنا یا کو شدت پسندوں کے بارے معلومات فراہم کرنا ہے۔

Blog: Why action against Taliban is PTI’s dilemma?

Sitting at a social gathering. One prominent PTI supporter here in Dubai was overheard saying that why the Federal government is wholly responsible for the anarchy in KPK and how being a federal subject they (PTI) do not have much control? When some one asked that in case the government is inept on the negotiation front. Than why not PTI and Imran Khan take the lead and bring this to the point where no side can turn back and show leadership by action for a change instead of word mongering. There was silence on the other side. But then again isn’t that the case every time with a PTI supporter when confronted by logic . Only difference is that this time I feel genuinely PTI , its leadership and its supporters are in a dilemma as they are soon realising that they cannot have their feet in both boats at the same time.

From “Its not our war” to “Its America’s war”. From “Taliban are friends” to “Some Taliban are enemies” PTI and especially its leader has been seen changing party lines over the course of the issue. Asad Umer was heard saying in one program on TV that Imran Khan has become more categorical in denouncing Taliban. I may agree with him as interestingly Imran has denounced Taliban by 0.00001% more than before the elections which is again a big achievement for him.

PTI in my opinion is in a split right now. I am sure out of the 7.6 Million votes they got in the National Assembly Elections and with approx 4.0 Million of which coming from KPK. People who wanted to vote against the last corrupt government voted mainly for Imran, also I feel that since APML could not get properly launched some vote went from there as well. At the same time lets not forget KPK where Imran and PTI made major gains which saw MMA winning in the 2002 elections. Meaning simply that there is radical vote existing in the country approximately in tune of 3-4 Million which instead went to PTI across the country inclusive of Karachi this time round mainly. Now the non radical PTI voters who chose to vote for PTI in the name of change are finding themselves in a difficult situation because where; as there party is seen pro TTP and extremist parties . The confusion runs amok as I am sure that soon they would find it difficult to associate themselves with the party they voted after much fanfare.

Confusion is that when Imran Khan denounces Lashkar e Jhangvi in Baluchistan for attacking Hazara Shia Community but choose to ignore the Taliban who have attacked schools, hospitals, bazaars, police and army in his own province dozens of time. Confusion I am sure for the party supporters is that Arif Alvi join rallies with LeJ and JI in Karachi responsible for attacking Shia community and at the same time try to join Majlis e Wahdat e Muslimeen rallies in Karachi . Confusion is that when Jamaat e Islami’s Amir call our soldiers non martyrs and Taliban as martyr their leader (Imran Khan) take a quiet line on the same and yet choose to continue in alliance with the same party which has impacted the morale of our jawans.

More confusion prevails for the same PTI when Imran Khan who gave us headaches during elections about claiming to bring back the looted US$ 60.0 Mn by Asif Zardari to poor people of Pakistan and is fine to go in an alliance with PPP for the Local Bodies Elections as per sources in Karachi . The Dharna against the Bilawal House wall was just a drama as Arif Alvi was being pressurised to let some UC/Councilor seats go to PPP as seat adjustment in Clifton-Defence and was left on his own by the party as per sources of their own party. Seeing his imaginary vote bank dilute and knowing that PPP also voted for him in the NA elections; created all the rumpus to create leverage and once again make a fool out of the people. The wall stays and you would see the alliance would come out soon.

Now PTI who was in an understanding with Taliban or TTP before elections . Reason for which their campaigns did not get effected by any suicide bombers across Pakistan where as their opponents in KPK ; ANP was cut to pieces and in Karachi MQM is being targeted by the PTI’s B team. Now I wonder how come they would be able to back out on the promises made to them that 1) under their government the Nato supplies would be stopped, 2) there would be no Drones, no Military Action and 3) they would be brought in the main politics.

The above paragraph would bring definitely a lot of ire on me . But it was Imran Khan who suggested opening Taliban offices all over Pakistan . It was him and his party who frowned and protested over drone strikes but never for the victims of the Taliban and their hell forsaken Suicide Bombers. It was him who denounced attack on Hakeemullah Mehsud but only said was sorry to know and that too after a few days for the Shaheed General Niazi. It was PTI who chose not to visit Aitezaz Hussain’s home and it was PTI and Imran Khan who is standing between the Taliban and the operation.

Now PMLN also do not want to go into operation unless all parties agrees. Fearing repercussions in case the operation take a twist and knowing that they cannot control the Army machine in Pakistan . But at the same time I wonder why would PTI want peace in KPK and the rest of the Pakistan as this is the main leverage PTI and especially Imran Khan holds this key trump card in his hands to keep his political gimmickry going. Secondly, why would people vote for him if Taliban come in the main stream politics. And lastly I am sure if he knows that if he now denounce them . He would invite double wrath of Taliban upon him for breaking commitment as well as using them as a chip to come into power. He knows for sure if he loose this leverage . He loose all and even why in the world would United States route any much needed aid through him in KPK.

I am sure the only reason why Imran Khan is so confused is knowing that his position for Taliban is pushing Pakistan only towards more turmoil as negotiation is a farce as even his allies like Maulana Tahir ul Qadri and Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed seem to have ditched him on this issue. But at the same time. You do not see much support or concurrence coming from senior party leaders like Jehangir Tareen, Shah Mehmood or Makhdoom Javed Hashmi . All of whom know very well that not only by taking Imran’s position they just invite more attacks, give more time to TTP for preparing before the Spring Offensive but also making casualty count just grow higher and higher. I am sure they all know that this position is nothing short of being a traitor to the country and its people. Its already in contravention to the constitution of Pakistan which do not allow private armies in the country and that too waging war against the state. I wonder how come this disregard for the constitution is fair and does not come under Article 6.

With some of the God Fathers of Imran Khan in the establishment gone or chosen to side with PM Nawaz Sharif ; the former also having the same roots as Imran and coming from Lahore . Imran and PTI are in a quandary in what to do as they say it’s a difficult position between a rock and a hard place. If they side with Taliban due to their arrangements. They would be traitors to the nation. If they side against them. They would be taken to task in KPK and would end up loosing their vote bank and maybe their lives.

It looks like the segment which PTI wanted to control to keep in power is the same segment which might bring it down. Whereas the moderate and more literate supporters are realising what their vote has done is that it has just created representation for Taliban in the National Assembly. The moderate NA 250; the most modern district or constituency of Pakistan must be grinding their teeth seeing their elected MNA standing hand and glove in the rallies with religious extremist parties and not doing much in solving their genuine issues in their areas.

Like they say all good things don’t last for ever . Similarly all such positions taken on the basis of wrong commitments are going to end soon as well. Imran Khan and PTI should move away from the middle and level ground for PMLN government to authorise full fledged operation against Taliban across the country as other main parties like PPP, MQM and ANP are game for it. Our army which is one of the best in the world if given mandate and confidence has the goods to deliver the job. After all they did it in Swat. Imran Khan would have to rise from his illusions as both the religion and the politics demand that strong retribution is delivered on Taliban and after that only if they realize their mistakes and agree on rehabilitation then only talks should ensue without stoppage of any fight against them. I would hope that similar position is taken in Karachi against Taliban as well. So that the same situation do not arise where Army builds pressure in one are only to see Taliban dispersing into Karachi or other parts of Pakistan for R&R. We saw that this was the main reason why the operation did not delivered till the end.

As the time run out. Imran Khan’s dilemma would keep on increasing and his options would run out and if by any chance his supporters or his imported party leaders start ditching him. Than it would be Game Over for the Khan . I feel he has unnecessarily embroiled himself in this situation as he loose credibility by the minute. He could have used his energy and talent for defending the victims and poor Pakistanis instead. Anyways lets hope sense prevails and he choose wisely. Pakistan Zindabad!

A consultation session between PPP and PTI will be held within next two days.

PESHAWAR (NNI) – In the most unpredictable move, Paksitan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) has decided to form alliance with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for local bodies (LB) elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the sources said on Sunday.

A consultation session will be held within next two days with PPP leaders at the residence of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Minister s adviser Yaseen Khalil, the sources added.

The session is likely to be attended by PPP’s Syed Zahir Shah and other party leaders while Jamaat-e-Islami members will also participate in the negotiations.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s PTI decided to form alliance with opposition party PPP to sweep in LG polls, the sources added.

Earlier on Saturday, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CEC said bio-metric system was significant for fair polls.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government conducted trial voting under new biometric system in an effort to hold free and fair local government elections across the province on Saturday.

The demo polling was arranged at village council Badhai, ward Wadpagga and neighborhood council Sir Buland Pura in Peshawar.

Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan said he would ensure transparency in upcoming local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

One of the pro- Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan political parties, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has moved ahead in the favor of TTP. PTI’s central leader Mian Mukarram Shah has demanded to give ministries of religious affairs to Taliban in federal cabinet and all provincial cabinets.

Earlier, PTI’s chief Imran Khan has demanded the government to allow Taliban to open an office for the peace dialogue in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

PTI campaigns against US, but uses USAID

Though Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its chief, Imran Khan speak a lot against US and its alleged involvement in Pakistani matters, but it is quite hypocritical on part of PTI to also receive aid from US in the name of USAID.

One example which PTI could not hide was the home page of the PTI-led KPK government’s website. Have a look and decide whether PTI has the moral right to campaign against US when receiving aid from US.

The website clearly says, “This website has been designed and developed with the support of the USAID Pakistan Legislative Strengthening Project under Contract No. DFD-I-00-04-00129-00, Task Order No. 01.”

The stubborn stance of Imran Khan in the favour of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has pushed many of PTI’s loyal supporters to speak against him. Many voiced their concerns on social media websites for what they believed was a dubious policy on the terrorism.

PTI’s lack of ability to condemn the recent spate of bomb blasts in its own province of Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa (KPK) has cost it a number of its supporters, who are not disgruntled with PTI and are terming it as another traditional political party.

‘Tabdeeli’: PTI minister disqualified over fake degree

ABBOTABAD: Election Tribunal Abbotabad on Friday disqualified Yousuf Ayub Khan‚ member Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa assembly in the fake degree case.

The lawmaker was elected from PK-50 Haripur on the ticket of Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Yousuf Ayub Khan, the grandson of former Pakistan president Ayub Khan, was KPK minister for Communication and Construction.

Declaring Khan as disqualified over his fake academic record, the tribunal has directed the Election Commission to hold bye-election in PK-50 constituency.

His documents were challenged by PML-N’s Qazi Asad.

Seems that sloganeer of anti-family politics and self-assumed youth based political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is also becoming a victim of family politics.

According to the ECP’s official site, PTI has been alloted 7 reserved seats for women in National Assembly. However out of these 7, 3 were allotted to the relatives of Pervez Khattak.

• Nafeesa Inayatullah Khan Khattak, is sister-in-law of CM Khattak.

• Mussarrat Ahmed Zaib, is the sister of his sister-in-law.

• Sajida Begum, is the niece of Pervez Khattak.

It should be remembered that Fauzia Qasuri has not been allotted a seat and she is disillusioned from the family politics in PTI.

PTI postpones intra-party elections in KPK

PESHAWAR: The much-awaited intra-party elections of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) were postponed in major districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday when clashes erupted between the old guards and new entrants to the party.

The intra-party elections of PTI in Peshawar district and its five cantonment towns were postponed indefinitely when two groups of workers clashed over alleged rigging at Swan Restaurant in Hayatabad Township where the polls were being held.
Eyewitnesses said that supporters of one group resorted to firing in the air when their rivals objected to their alleged rigging.

They said that Peshawar district had 1,260 voters in 92 union councils and four cantonments and each voter was required to cast 48 votes for as many candidates in the intra-party’s elections.

They said that the electoral lists were full of errors and the party slots, written in front of the candidates’ names, were so small that it was hard to read the same. It created confusion in the minds of voters, they added.

Sources said that in the absence of computerised national identity cards it was difficult for the election officers to verify the identity of voters.

The old activists of PTI alleged that armed supporters of their rival group, led by former leaders of the Pakistan people’s Party, tried to rig the elections. They said that they boycotted the elections to avoid bloodshed.

Sources said that the battle for power between the old guard and new entrants in the party had been continued for the last one year.

Asad Qaisar, former provincial president of PTI, is leading the group of old workers.

Mr Qaisar, who is a candidate for the slot of PTI provincial president, has fielded Dr Inayatullah Chamkani and Zafarullah Khattak for the slots of president and general secretary of Peshawar district respectively.

MPA Pervez Khattak, who is contesting against Mr Qaisar, backs Yasin Khalil and Younas Zaheer for the slots of PTI Peshawar president and general secretary respectively.

Both groups accused each other for sabotaging the elections. The candidates for different party’s slots told Dawn that they had reservations at printing of ballot papers for the elections and conveyed their complaints to the district, provincial and central election commission of the party but to no avail.

However, the new entrants in PTI rejected all the allegations. “We are supporting Imran Khan because he is the only hope in these trying times. Election is a democratic process which must be allowed to take place within the party,” a candidate from Pervez Khattak’s panel said.
In Mardan, the Intra-party elections of PTI were also postponed when two groups of workers scuffled during the polling process.

One of the groups titled ‘Inqilabi’ is led by Ghafar Mohmand, Brig (retired) Ismail Khan and Nasir Khan while the second panel titled ‘Nazriyati’ is backed by Mohammad Atif Khan, Alam Khan and Mujahid Khan.

PTI district election commissioner Advocate Sabzali Khan postponed the elections when some armed workers attacked the polling stations at around 2pm.

Both the groups accused each other of sabotaging the intra-party elections.

Later, the Ghafar group addressed an emergency press conference and rejected postponement of intra-party polls by the election commissioner.

The group leaders demanded of PTI leadership to count the polled votes, which were handed over to official City police station in sealed boxes after the attack.

On the other hand, Atif group demanded fresh elections and lauded the elections commissioner for postponement of intra-party polls.

In Charsadda too, PTI intra-party elections were postponed after supporters of rival groups levelled allegations of rigging against each other.

The polls were in progress at a local hotel when supporters of Tahir Khan Omarzai, a candidate of Pervaiz Khattak group, alleged that backers of his rival candidate Zahoor Khan were casting bogus votes. The supporters of both groups exchanged hot words and chanted slogans against each other. The party’s election commission postponed the elections.

In Chitral, Abdul Latif was elected district president of PTI in the intra-party elections. PTI convener Mohammad Qasim and district election commissioner Altaf Gauhar told a press conference that the intra-party elections were held in a peaceful atmosphere.

They said that Israrud Din was elected PTI district general secretary in the elections. Haji Sultan Mohammad and Rahmat Ghazi were elected presidents of Chitral and Mastuj sub-divisions respectively.
