Every revolution or major change begins with a revolutionary ideology. These days the hot and pressing issue of Mohajir province is a hot potato for all the mainstream parties of Pakistan. All the parties from Karachi to Islamabad agree that Mohajir province is not an option. This is not about Mohajirs this is bigger than that. The right to self determination and preservation of a creed, race or religion is the state’s obligation under the 1973 constitution and International Law as well. Having said that, as a Mohajir youth myself, I am completely fed up and agitated enough to say that hell with mainstream Pakistan. We Mohajirs have been oppressed since the assassination of Prime Minister Liaqat Ali Khan, the mysterious death of Fatima Jinnah under dictatorship of the racist Ayub Khan. Then there is the Pakka Qila Hyderabad incident of 1990 and 1992 operation cleanup in Karachi and many other bitter incidents which have resulted in the death of thousands of innocent Mohajirs. Also to those hypocrites who say that Mohajir province is a very ethnically biased motion and movement which is contrary to Pakistan and Sindh’s welfare and utility Well then what is Saraikistan and Bahawalpur provinces, which themselves have an ethnic basis and are for the welfare of Saraikis and not Punjabis. Why is PML-N and PPP giving into those ethnic demands? This is an open contradiction and ethnic bias has always been played against the Urdu-speaking community. The Mohajir province is our right and if in the past, Mohajirs united and told their oppressors through the pen and sword that kill us and we will wipe you out. That can happen again do not take our silence as our weakness. The right to self defense of person and community from imminent bodily harm is our legal right.
So at the end, I would strongly urge and implore the Provincial government and Federal government to talk to the representatives, of Mohajir province movement and hear them out, negotiate and work it out. Trust me nobody wants gore and mayhem to ensue due to the rigid and arrogant policies of the government. If they think that Mohajir province is a farce or a political conspiracy against them well they are dwelling in a fool paradise. Also at the same time I would urge and implore Mr. Altaf Hussain and the MQM to please review their decision of staying aloof from the Mohajir province movement. They must remember that their base is Mohajir community and they are suppose to act in the best interest of Mohajir if nothing, and the Sindhi-Mohajirs are the only community that supported the MQM through thick and thin. Hence the MQM and Altaf Hussain must rethink and review their policies. This is what me and the majority of Mohajirs want, a place which we can call our own where the CM is not involved in a criminal enterprise or heinous crimes, where the Home Ministry does not harbor or support thugs and criminals and where the law enforcement mechanism are local and not from a far flung area. We need a home which is for the people and by the people and of the people of the Mohajir province. It is not politics and it is not anything else, it is the right of life of Mohajirs to live a peaceful existence which they deserve since they are the ones who left everything in India for this land.
