Tickets for election: PML-N takes highest fees from the candidates

Karachi: Pakistan Muslim League (N)(PML-N) is the political party which has received the highest fees for the applications of party ticket from candidates while Awami National Party (ANP) received the lowest fees. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is also fixed the price of 3 thousand rupees for application form. PML-F and PML-Q have not summoned the application form from their candidates. It's expecting that political parties will finalize the procedure of receiving of applications in upcoming weeks. PML-N has fixed the price of 50 thousand for National Assembly and 30 thousand for Provincial Assembly while 1 lac for reserved seats in National Assembly and 75 thousand for reserved seats in Provincial seats will be received. Pakistan Peoples Party has demanded 40 thousand for National Assembly and 30 thousand for Provincial Assembly. Imran Khan's PTI has fixed the price of 27 thousand for National Assembly and 17 thousand for Provincial Assembly.

On the other side, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) did not ask any kind of fees for party tickets. In many talk-shows, MQM leaders have mentioned that their party does not take any fees from the candidates. ANP suggested the figure of 25 thousand for National Assembly and 20 thousand for Provincial Assembly.

PPP, PML-Q, PTI and JI are not eligible to get election symbols

ISLAMABAD: About 120 political parties out of the 193 registered with the Election Commission are yet to qualify to get election symbols for the upcoming general election.

Sources told Dawn on Saturday that only 71 political parties had so far submitted details of their intra-party elections to the commission — a prerequisite for eligibility to obtain election symbol under the Political Parties Order 2002. In some of the cases the details were awaited for the last two to three years.

The parties which are yet to submit details include the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), its ally Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q), Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) and Jamaat-i-Islami (JI).

Similarly, 77 political parties have not submitted to the commission consolidated statements of accounts for financial year 2012 — which too is a requirement for eligibility to get an election symbol.

Under Article 12 of the Political Parties Order 2002, the party leader of each political party is bound to submit to the EC, within seven days from completion of the intra-party elections, a certificate under his signature to the effect that the elections were held in accordance with the constitution of the party.

Under Article 13 of the Order, every political party is required to submit to the commission, within 60 days from the close of each financial year, a consolidated statement of accounts of the party audited by a chartered accountant, in such a manner and form as may be specified by the Chief Election Commissioner. The statement must include annual income and expenses, sources of funds and assets and liabilities.

Article 14(2) of the Order provides that the political parties contravening the provisions of Article 12 and 13 shall not be entitled to obtain election symbols.

Under Section 5 of the Allocation of Symbol Order 2002 “subject to fulfilment of the provisions of Political Parties Order, 2002 and the rules framed thereunder, a political party shall make an application to the Election Commission for allocation of a symbol of its choice within the period specified by the Commission”.

A source said the EC would apprise the political parties of the requirement of law for allotment of election symbol, to avoid confusion and chaos in the political parties at the time of allotment of election symbols for general election.

He said that when the matter was previously discussed by the EC with the political parties, some of them demanded allotment of election symbols to the political parties on permanent basis.

He, however, said presently there existed no provision either in the political parties order or in allocation of symbols order, for permanent allocation of symbols to the political parties. He said amendment in the two Orders will be required to meet the demand.

NOWSHERA: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Amir Muqam on Sunday accused the Awami National Party (ANP) of playing politics over the bodies of the Pakhtuns in Karachi. Addressing a public gathering in the Jalozai Camp in Nowshera, he said the entire Pakhtun nation had rendered sacrifices in the fight against terrorism but the leadership of the ANP had reaped the rewards.
“We don’t want to belittle the sacrifices offered by the ANP leaders and workers but they have received the price manifold,” Amir Muqam argued. He accused the ANP of being responsible for the targetted-killings of the Pakhtuns in Karachi. He said the Pakhtuns were living peacefully in Karachi and earning their livelihood before the arrival of the ANP there. 
“Four suicide attacks have been carried out to kill me. Several leaders and workers of our party were killed in the tribal and other areas in the province. But we are not playing politics over their bodies,” he stressed. He said his party activists had formed peace bodies in Peshawar but the government did not extend cooperation to them.
“This camp bears witness to the fact that the Pakhtuns have offered sacrifices and suffered untold miseries in the war against terror. The people belonging to Malakand Division and the tribal areas had to leave their hometowns and live here under tough conditions,” he said.
The PML-Q leader alleged that the PPP and the ANP leaders were looting the country’s resources and extending their rule in the name of democracy. He said the nation knew the stooges of the US and those behind the US drone attacks. Muqam said that investigation into the memogate scandal should be held to ascertain the facts.

The two political leaders who accompanied Prime Minister of Pakistan Yousaf Raza Gilani to the Supreme Court on 19 January 2012 for his hearing, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Asfandyar Wali Khan, were accompanying Mr Nawaz Sharif when he had to visit Supreme Court in 1997 for his hearing. Wow, How time changes.

Pakistan Muslim League-N Supremo Nawaz Sharif has given the signal to his party leaders to take the steps to unite all the Muslim League factions so that to start preparing for the next elections. In this regard, General (R) Majeed Malik has confirmed that he has contacted Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Mushahid Hussain Syed. On the other hand, Q-League leaders have subjected the reunion to a formal invitation of "tea party" by Nawaz Sharif to Q-League Leaders.

New PTI leaders have had very diversified political careers

The 3 known leaders of Rahim Yar Khan who recently joined PTI,have had very diversified political careers. All 3 of them, Rafiq Haider Laghari, Zafar Iqbal Warraich and Chaudhry Shokat Daud , have been part of PML-N,PPP,PML-Q and Junejo League in different eras. 

Seemingly,PTI actually shouts the slogan for change but in actual it is the composition of the same old nincompoops who have been looting us for the last 65 years. PTI workers have concern over the joining of same corrupt leaders in PTI, a senior leader of PTI revealed. 

“At no level of the PTI is any commitment being made to the newcomers regardless of their public clout,” a senior PTI leader told on condition of anonymity. He admitted that resentment was intensifying among the ideological workers over inclusion of most of the tested and tried political personalities, who had remained aligned with different political parties, championing the status quo.

Nawaz family tried hard to hide this case & use all power. Ayesha's brother stated, Nawaz family hatching conspiracies against us to stop us. He further stated: They are in danger, their lives are in danger. He appealed to punjab CJ and CJP to help them in critical situation.
