Julia Gillard has made headlines in Australia over “yet another shoe slip up” after falling spectacularly near the Gandhi Memorial in New Delhi.
Ms Gillard was unhurt and immediate declared she was “fine” despite landing on her face after her heel caught in soft grass.
Laughing off the incident, she noted to a male journalist who asked her about it that he may not appreciate “the logistics” of wearing heels on grass.
Providing a good-natured commentary on the incident, she said: "For men who get to wear flat shoes all day every day, if you wear a heel it can get embedded in soft grass. And then when you pull your foot out, the shoe doesn't come – and then the rest of it is as you saw."
