Before mentioning about the political system of Pakistan, I would like to define, what really political system is ? according to Encyclopaedia Britanicca, “Political system, is the set of formal legal institutions that constitute a “government” or a “state.” This is the definition adopted by many studies of the legal or constitutional arrangements of advanced political orders. More broadly defined, however, the term comprehends actual as well as prescribed forms of political behaviour, not only the legal organization of the state but also the reality of how the state functions. Still more broadly defined, the political system is seen as a set of “processes of interaction” or as a subsystem of the social system interacting with other nonpolitical subsystems.”
There are yet more definitions of "political system":

  1.  A political system is a complete set of institutions, interest groups (such as political parties, trade unions, lobby groups), the relationships between those institutions and the political norms and rules that govern their functions (constitution, election law).
  2.  A political system is composed of the members of a social organization (group) who are in power.
  3.  A political system is a concept in which theoretically regarded as a way of the government makes a policy and also to make them more organized in their administration.
  4.  A political system is one that ensures the maintaining of order and sanity in the society and at the same time makes it possible for some other institutions to also have their grievances and complaints put across in the course of social existence.

In simple words, “A system involving government and its politics which includes the members who are in power within a country.”
To understand the political system of Pakistan we would have to look at the history of Pakistan, during last 64 years of Pakistan’s existence, we have seen three long regimes of Martial Law, and since existence of Pakistan upto 1973, there was no constitution and there was no democratic government, only elite class has been ruling over Pakistan, which made Pakistani ruling class most corrupt because all they were belonged to privileged class i.e, jagirdars, vaderas, khawaneen and sardars and the civil and military bureacracy.
The constituent assemblies were not allowed to work, after martyrdom of Khan Liaquat Ali Khan, the conspiracies hatching started by the elite class which includes civil and military bureaucracy and the politicians, a state have three pillars parliament, executive and judiciary for functioning, but we see all were captured by the corrupt politicians and privileged class, as I was telling that after martyrdom of Khan Liaquat Ali Khan, the first Prime Minister of Pakistan, bureaucracy took over the charge of the government, Ghulam Muhammad, a bureaucrat took over the charge as Governor General of Pakistan who dismissed the government of Khawaja Nazimuddin in April, 1953, in 1954 Malik Ghulam Muhammad the Governor General of Pakistan, dismissed the Constituent Assembly, against which Molvi Tameezuddin, the Speaker Constituent Assembly went to the Court, but the Apex Court gave a split decision but upheld the decision of Malik Ghulam Muhammad and from there the “viceregal” politics started in Pakistan, in which civil and military bureaucracy governed the country and maintained substantial control over country.
For 26 years Pakistan remained under different experiments, Presidential type system of government was introduced by a Military dictator Field Marshal General Ayyub Khan, to obtain legitimacy for his illegal act, he introduced Basic Democracy by which he created an electoral college, the influencial jagirdars, vaderas, khawaneen, sardars and feudal lords were on the back, as democratic form of government did not suit to them, many of detriments in the political system of Pakistan entered because of unnecessary interference of elite class and obstructed from forming constitution of Pakistan.
Pakistan have seen many forms of governments and political systems but none of these could deliver to the people, because system were not bad or good itself but the people deal with the system would be responsible for the consequences.
In our country we see the induction of people from elite and privileged class, in bureaucracy, armed forces, judiciary, every where we find them in the saddle, in fact real and genuine democratic system does not suit to elite class.
So, looking at the facts and realities, I am quit satisfied that we have no democratic form of political system in our country, but it is a class based system which always protects the interests and benefits of previleged class, and this is the sole reason that we are facing different kinds of problems and issues in our country, as we are divided on the basis of race, creed, language, province and faith, while we see that the people from previleged class from any race, creed, tribe or language have no any difference with others of same class, we the masses are just a tool to elect them so that they may rule over majority which belongs to poor and middle class.
What we should to do is that the people from lower middle class, middle class and upper middle class must be united if they want to save the country our beloved PAKISTAN, a gift and bless of ALMIGHTY ALLAH, otherwise, they will divide it further as they do in 1971 while Shaikh Mujeeb-ur-Rehman acquired the majority in the elections, but he belonged to middle class and that was an alarm for the feudal class that the real democratic forces were coming forward and then they decided to cut that piece of land from PAKISTAN which was a danger for their interests.
Anybody who loves PAKISTAN, must realize their responsibility to save PAKISTAN and unite ignoring their race, creed, faith and language differences, as the real democracy in the country can save PAKISTAN, which will bring prosperity, harmony and tranquility, and equal opportunities of education, economic growth and employment, and ever green PAKISTAN shall exist on globe. “INSHAALLAH.”
MAY ALLAH SAVE OUR BELOVED PAKISTAN AND GIVE US STRENGTH TO CHANGE THE SYSTEM TO BRING REAL DEMOCRACY IN PAKISTAN.
