Senator Zahid Muhammad Khan, who was elected as a senator from Awami National Party (ANP), has said that he will make sure that the National Grid stops supplying 650 MW electricity to Karachi as this was decided by Senate’s standing committee on water and power.
Maybe, Mr Khan does not know that Karachi has more than 2 million Pukhtoons living in it and this makes Karachi the largest city in terms of Pukhtoon populace. Most of these Pukhtoons belong to lower or lower middle class and are mostly factory workers. If 650 MW of electricity is stopped to be supplied to Karachi then most of these Pukhtoons will lose their jobs and unemployment and poverty will increase. Being a member of ANP, which claims to be the representatives of Pukhtoons, Zahid Khan is either ill-informed or his party's claim is utterly false. He seems to be working on the agenda of Punjab's establishment and it seems that he is working on Punjab's payroll to overall damage the economy of Karachi and make Karachiites, as a whole, suffer.
