PTI-led KP govt renews TTP office offer

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has renewed its offer to facilitate outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to open its office in the province for holding peace talks.

Provincial Information Minister Shah Farman reiterated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was ready to provide full security to TTP’s negotiating team during the talks process, according to a handout issued here on Tuesday. The government spokesman said that the KP government would not only ensure protection to them, but also cooperate and provide all facilities to establish its office if it wanted to start talks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said that the government wanted result-oriented talks and was ready for all possible cooperation. — Bureau Report

PTI warns ANP of reaction against attack on offices

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Karachi has condemned attack on its offices in Landhi and Gushan-e Iqbal and has warned the rival Awami National Party (ANP) to avoid any adventurism. In a statement issued here yesterday, PTI Karachi chapter spokesperson Dawa Khan Sabir said that the ANP was behind attack on PTI offices, which the PTI had tolerated with patience but enough was enough. He demanded government of Sindh to take notice of the situation that could trigger violent confrontation if further attacks were launched on PTI’s offices and then the entire responsibility would fall on the ANP and the civil administration.

Rangers raid on PTI office in Karachi, 7 workers detained

KARACHI: Rangers and Police have nabbed at least 7 to 8 suspects during a joint raid at area office of Pakistan Tehrik-e Insaaf. The raid was conducted last night between 8-9 p.m at a PTI office located in a spatial settlement in Rasheedabad within the precincts of Khawaja Ajmer Nagri Police Stations. The main suspect Altaf Mehsood alongwith 7 others was arrested and shifted to a ‘safe place’ for further investigation.
According to details, Rangers had received information about suspects hiding in a PTI office. Rangers had raided the PTI office with 4 Rangers and 2 Police vans. The entire area was cordoned off in order to prevent the suspect from fleeing from the area.
According to PTI spokesman Dawa Khan, the arrested suspect Altaf Mehsood was incharge of PTI ward 98 in Khawaja Ajmer Nagri area. “We are trying to seek information from the law enforcers why they have arrested PTI activists while they were not involved in any crime”, he said. He said that PTI had suspended Mehsood a week ago on complaints against him. He said that PTI does not support anyone involved in any unlawful activities. He however condemned the law enforcers for destroying office furniture.
According to sources, Rangers had been updated with an intelligence report that the arrested PTI ward incharge had connections with some Taliban leader. However, PTI spokesman refuted such claim.

PTI office sealed over non-payment of tax

LAHORE: Giving a clarification about the sealing of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Lahore secretariat, Excise and Taxation Region (B) Director Muhammad Asif informed that as per record of the property tax, Mian Hameed Ahmad Zulfiqar, son of Mian Muhammad, Mian Shafqat Muzaffar Hameed, Mian Shaukat Mujahid Hameed, Mian Shahid Musawar Hameed and Mian Gohar Mubashar Hameed are the owners of property No S.77.R.III. 113/A, where the office of PTI and a shop/canteen is situated, the assessment of which was made on rental basis. 

An amount of Rs 350,128 was outstanding as property tax against this property, out of which Rs 230,953 was still outstanding, and an amount of Rs 119,175 was the property tax for this year, he informed. Asif said that Mian Akram Usman claims verbally that he had purchased this property but did not provide any documents or an application in this regard. He further claimed that all notices for payment of property tax had already been issued. Moreover, Kh Attique Ahmad (A-E-T-O) has been meeting with the concerned persons but to no avail, he added.
