KARACHI: Rangers and Police have nabbed at least 7 to 8 suspects during a joint raid at area office of Pakistan Tehrik-e Insaaf. The raid was conducted last night between 8-9 p.m at a PTI office located in a spatial settlement in Rasheedabad within the precincts of Khawaja Ajmer Nagri Police Stations. The main suspect Altaf Mehsood alongwith 7 others was arrested and shifted to a ‘safe place’ for further investigation.
According to details, Rangers had received information about suspects hiding in a PTI office. Rangers had raided the PTI office with 4 Rangers and 2 Police vans. The entire area was cordoned off in order to prevent the suspect from fleeing from the area.
According to PTI spokesman Dawa Khan, the arrested suspect Altaf Mehsood was incharge of PTI ward 98 in Khawaja Ajmer Nagri area. “We are trying to seek information from the law enforcers why they have arrested PTI activists while they were not involved in any crime”, he said. He said that PTI had suspended Mehsood a week ago on complaints against him. He said that PTI does not support anyone involved in any unlawful activities. He however condemned the law enforcers for destroying office furniture.
According to sources, Rangers had been updated with an intelligence report that the arrested PTI ward incharge had connections with some Taliban leader. However, PTI spokesman refuted such claim.
