3.5 million non-prohibited licenses in KPK

Monday, 2 April 2012

02-04-2012
Peshawar: Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa government has no data available for the 3.5 (35 lacs) non-prohibited arms licenses it issued, which means that these arms and ammunition can be used wherever their owners desire as there is no record available. According to Home and Tribal Affairs department, all of these licenses are original but their records are unavailable and so there is no verification. According to Express Tribune, KPK government issued 210 more arms manufacturing licenses during the last year and now the number of arms manufacturing units is now over 250. This is a classy case of contradiction by ethnic based political party 'ANP'. It reiterates about deweaponizing Karachi, but in its own province it is actually encouraging the arms' production and their usage. It is ironic how ANP's office-bearers and leaders repeatedly say that Weapons are their jewelry. Another point to be noted here is this that Arms in Karachi mostly come from KPK's infamous arms market Darra & Banu. Yet, ANP claims it is innocent and has no part in the bloodshed in Karachi. It is really ironic that people of Pakistan still hold Karachiets responsible for Karachi's every bad incident. Reality is somehow very different.
