Karachi: The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the assassination of the leaders and four workers of the Awami National Party (ANP) in Karachi.
The TTP Malakand Division spokesman Sirajuddin told UK reporters by phone from an unknown location that they had killed four ANP workers (Nazim Ameer Sardar, Rehmat Ali, Zahid Khan and Buksh Zaman) in the Frontier Colony in Karachi on Monday. He said that ANP leader Ameer Sardar was an anti-Taliban leader and had been found guilty of cooperating with the government against the militants. He said anyone involved in anti-militants activities would meet the same fate.
Gunmen riding motorbikes had attacked and fired at the ANP activists sitting outside the home and office of the party leader Bashir Jan in Karachi’s Pakhtun-populated Frontier Colony on Monday. Police said it was a targetted killing and the real target was ANP leader Ameer Sardar.
