PESHAWAR - The activists of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) divided over awarding party ticket of NA-01 Peshawar to Gul Bacha as some warned to boycott the upcoming bye-election if the party did not take the decision back while some workers hailed it.
It is merit mentioning that PTI awarded ticket to Gul Bacha to contest bye-polls from NA-1. They angry workers demanded PTI Chairman Imran Khan to allot ticket to a senior and ideological party worker Samad Mursalin. They staged a protest rally in Saddar Bazaar cantonment area, holding banners and placards chanted slogans against the proposed candidate.
Addressing on the occasion, PTI workers said that Samad Mursaline has been serving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf since 1996 and it is his right to be awarded party ticket to contest bye-election from NA-01 Peshawar.
They criticised Gul Bacha for acquiring illegal Pakistani nationality and warned if he was awarded party ticket, the loyal workers of PTI would boycott the bye-polls. They also demanded PTI Chairman Imran Khan to take senior workers in confidence before taking any decision regarding party ticket for contesting election.
Meanwhile, offices-bearers of 20 union councils announced to support Samad Mursalin and demanded party Central leadership to award party ticket to party ideological worker.
Addressing at a news conference here at press club, PTI Union Council-9 President Aftab Aslam, PTI Youth Wing president Muhammad Bilal, and Muhammad Zarin said that Mursalin is ideological worker of the party and he is quite a suitable candidate to contest bye-election on PTI ticket.
Meanwhile, the offices-bearers of Insaf Students Federation (ISF) declined allegations leveled against PTI senior leader and termed it baseless propaganda.
They said that party parliamentary board had awarded party ticket to Gul Bacha on merit to contest the forthcoming bye-polls from NA-I Peshawar on August 22. They said that allegations against Gul Bacha were concocted and unfounded while addressing at a press conference at press club. He alleged that a group of mafia in the party had involved defaming Gul Bacha.
He claimed that Gul Bacha had played important role in success of party chairman Imran Khan from NA-I Peshawar in general elections, as a campaign in-charge.
